FluoNora – Y-splitter is a special splitter for the modular scent tunnel that allows you to create more complex training setups with multiple scent paths.
One channel of the splitter is a through channel that leads the scent further, while the other creates a separate scent chamber where you can place a different scent, a decoy, treats, or a Fluonose Nano+ can.
With bayonet mounts at the exits, you can further expand the splitter with simple sections, elbows, end caps, extensions, and other elements of the FluoNora system.
FluoNora – Y-connector is one of the most interesting elements of the entire modular scent system. At first glance, it looks like a regular splitter, but its design has been specifically created for nosework training. This is not a classic Y-connector, where the scent simply spreads simultaneously in two directions. Here, one branch is a through channel, and the other creates a separate scent chamber.
Thanks to this, the Y-connector allows for building more advanced training scenarios. You can continue the scent further down one channel, while preparing an independent hide, decoy, treats, or an empty chamber in the other. This provides enormous possibilities for working with dogs at various levels of advancement – from simple exercises distinguishing channels to more challenging tasks with several potential marking locations.

The greatest advantage of the Y-connector is that it allows the introduction of an additional, separate scent space into the FluoNora system. One channel passes the scent further, while the other can become a separate working area – for scent, decoy, treats, or marking an inaccessible source.
In a standard splitter, one would expect the scent from the lower part of the element to spread into two channels. In the FluoNora system, the Y-connector works smarter. One of the channels is through and continues the scent path from previous elements, while the other channel is sealed from below. This creates a separate scent chamber that can work independently of the main path.
This solution provides much greater control over the training. For example, you can lead the scent further through the through channel, while placing a decoy or an empty can in the side chamber. You can also do the opposite – hide the actual scent in the side chamber, leaving the main path empty or continuing it to additional elements. For the dog, such a setup is much more interesting than a simple container placed on the floor, as it requires more thorough checking and calmer analysis.
The Y-connector is therefore an element that allows transitioning from simple hides to more thoughtful tasks. It works particularly well in training work, where the ability to quickly modify the difficulty level is important. In one configuration, you can use it as a simple branching, in another as a chamber with a decoy, and in yet another as a hiding place for the actual scent.

The Y-connector allows for quickly changing the character of the entire configuration. You can use it as a through branching, as an additional scent chamber, or as a place to work with a decoy. Thanks to this, the same element can create completely different tasks.
On the elements of the FluoNora system, there are arrows indicating the direction of scent flow. In the case of the Y-connector, this is particularly important, as the element has two different types of channels. The arrows help quickly identify which outlet is through and leads the scent further, and which creates a separate, sealed chamber from below.
This is very convenient when frequently reconstructing configurations. During group classes, training at the club, or working with several dogs, there is not always time for long analysis of each element. Direction markings allow for quickly assembling the layout according to the plan and avoiding accidentally setting the Y-connector in a way that changes the meaning of the exercise.
In practice, this means greater control over the training. You know where the scent is to be led further, and where the additional chamber is located. This allows you to consciously design exercises: simpler for beginner dogs or more demanding for those that handle classic hides well.
The FluoNora Y-connector has bayonet mounts that allow you to connect additional elements of the system to its outlets. You can attach a simple segment, elbow, cap, extension, or another module, creating a more complex structure. Assembly is quick and convenient – you insert the element, twist it, and the system is ready to work.
Thanks to this, the Y-connector works great as a point of expansion for the entire system. It can be the beginning of a side branch, a place for an independent hide, or a way to introduce several potential areas of interest into the system. This is particularly useful when you want to teach the dog to check thoroughly, rather than just quickly reacting to the first encountered scent.
In simple training, the Y-connector can be used with one cap and one further segment. In more advanced configurations, you can combine several Y-connectors, elbows, and straight pipes, creating a system resembling a network of tunnels. Such a layout is perfect for working with dogs that need a greater challenge and a more interesting scent puzzle.
The separate, sealed chamber from below is the greatest advantage of this element. You can place a scent can, a cotton ball with oil, a natural scent sample, cinnamon, treats, or another carrier used during training inside it. There is no dedicated socket here, so you are not limited to one hiding place.
A very interesting option is to use Fluonose Nano+ cans. Thanks to the built-in magnet, the can can be held inside the element using an external magnet applied from the outside. This allows you to place the scent source at different heights and in less obvious places.
This method of working is great for teaching marking inaccessible scent sources. The dog smells the scent but does not have direct access to the sample. Therefore, it must indicate the place from which the scent is emanating, rather than trying to touch or extract the carrier. This is a very valuable exercise for dogs training nosework more consciously and precisely.
In combination with the FluoNora base, the Y-connector allows for quickly creating a more complex layout. You can connect it to one of the three outlets of the base, continue the through channel with a straight segment, and use the side chamber as an independent hide. You can also close one of the outlets with a cap to obtain a more controlled scent space.
In larger systems, Y-connectors do the most work. They allow for creating branches, side chambers, and alternative paths. In combination with 30° elbows and straight segments, you can build layouts that the dog must thoroughly navigate, check from several sides, and calmly analyze. This is no longer just an ordinary scent container, but a full-fledged scent puzzle.
If you are already using classic accessories, such as scent chimney for nosework, the FluoNora Y-connector allows you to enter a completely different level of work. Instead of a single vertical hide, you can create a system where the scent is led further, and the additional chamber introduces a new decision element into the exercise.
The Y-connector is particularly well-suited for nosework trainers, instructors, and dog schools that want to build more advanced scent tasks. It is an element for those who do not want to limit themselves to a simple hide but want to create exercises with choices, analysis, and a greater number of possible checking locations.
It is also a great addition for guardians training with their dogs at home, who gradually expand their FluoNora. One Y-connector can completely change the character of the system, as it introduces a side chamber and an additional decision for the dog. This makes training more interesting without the need to invent everything from scratch.
The FluoNora Y-connector is made of PETG, so it can be used both indoors and outdoors. It performs well in training rooms, gardens, fields, in grass, moisture, or snow. It can also be part of a larger system buried in soil, sawdust, or snow, allowing for more natural hides to be created.
After training, simply shake out loose dirt from the inside and wash the element in warm water with detergent. This is a convenient solution for regular work with multiple dogs, especially in schools and clubs, where the equipment must be not only functional but also easy to keep clean.
Note: this product includes one Y-connector of the FluoNora system. Other elements visible in example configurations, scent cans, and external magnets are available separately.
