Small bowl for scent marking training in scent training

Do you want to introduce your dog to the fascinating world of scent work? Our scent marking learning bowl is a great way to start the adventure of detecting aromas! It features a solid construction made of PETG, which does not absorb odors and is dishwasher safe. The additional rim at the base makes the bowl exceptionally stable and won't tip over during energetic movements of the dog.

• 🐶 Designed for scent work: Universal sizes allow for working with scent cans with a diameter of 5 cm - e.g. Fluonose Mini or Fluonose Mini+. The bowl is suitable for use with both large dogs and small puppies.

How does working with the scent marking learning bowl look like?

1. Choose a scent: Place a scent can with the chosen scent (e.g. clove, cinnamon, orange peel or a mixture of scents) in the bowl.
2. Cover: Put on the lid with holes that allow the aroma to circulate inside the bowl.
3. Add treats (optional): At the beginning, toss a few of your dog's favorite treats under the lid. You can do this so that your pet can see where you hide them.
4. Give the command "SCENT": Encourage the dog to reach into the bowl.
5. Reward progress: When the dog puts its nose inside, praise it with the word "SUPER" (or another one you use to mark correctly performed tasks) and toss a few treats on the lid to reward the dog.
6. Limit treats: Once the dog understands the task, remove the treats from under the lid, leaving only the scent to be detected.
7. Make the task harder: Place several empty bowls around the room and reward the dog only at the one with the scent to practice its concentration and scent.

This approach provides the dog with positive associations with finding the scent, allowing it to learn proper marking faster.

We strongly encourage starting your scent work adventure under the guidance of a specialist who will tailor the training to the specific dog to achieve the fastest progress, making the training a pleasure for the dog rather than a source of frustration.
