Scent Bolt - scent sample storage resembling a screw

Are you looking for a change from standard cans? Scent Bolt is a master of camouflage. It looks like a solid, graphite screw that someone left on a construction site, but inside it hides a secret – a scent compartment. With it, your dog will learn to ignore visual stimuli and trust only its nose. It's a perfect variation for training in the garage, on the terrace, or in the garden.

What sets Scent Bolt apart from other imitations is its functionality. It is not just a regular piece of plastic lying loosely on the ground (though it can be used that way too!). We equipped it with a solid, thick thread that is resistant to sand. You can screw it into styrofoam, soft wood, and especially into our dedicated scent meadow modules. This way, you create a stable scent station that your dog cannot move or take in its mouth. This is crucial for learning passive indication!

🎓 Sample training: "Stationary target"

This scenario is ideal for dogs that tend to paw or grab the sample with their teeth. We will use the unique feature of Scent Bolt – the ability to screw it in.

1. Preparation: Take a piece of thick styrofoam or scent meadow module. Screw in Scent Bolt with a scent sample inside. Screw in 2-3 other screws (regular, metal, or other unscented imitations) as visual distractors next to it.
2. Setup: Place the prepared board in the grass or on the floor. You can lightly cover the base with leaves, exposing only the heads of the screws.
3. Work: Release the dog to search. When the dog finds the right screw, its attempt to "move" or take it will fail – the screw won't budge.
4. Reward: The moment the dog gives up on struggling and "freezes" its nose at the head of the screw (this is called passive indication), immediately mark the behavior (with a clicker or word) and reward it at the source of the scent.

This exercise teaches the dog that the reward comes from "looking with the nose", not from manipulating the object!
