Sample training: “Pilot on the Sofa”

Based on the home games described by trainer Cathy Madson (Preventive Vet), start with a simple “find it” and increase the difficulty as your dog gains confidence.

Start: Place the Fluo TV on the floor within the dog’s line of sight. Use the command “search!”; praise and reward the dog when it touches the remote with its nose.
Progression: Hide the remote control partially under a blanket or behind a table leg. Let the dog work independently – shorten the distance if necessary.
Sofa challenge: Tuck the remote control between the sofa cushions (point the scent holes outwards). Remember that the scent ‘travels’ differently in soft materials – give the dog time to analyse it.
Scent rotation: Adjust the intensity of Nano+ (turn the ring) or use a new oil sample so that the dog does not rely solely on memory.
New environment: Once your dog confidently locates the remote in the living room, move it to the garden, garage or office – different air currents will keep them motivated.

Remember to keep sessions short (3–4 searches of 5 minutes each) and make playtime with the reward last longer; nosework tires the brain more than an hour-long walk.
