Why this dummy?

Imagine your dog confidently diving into a scenario straight out of an industrial hall: a yellow cube, a red mushroom with the word STOP, and a tempting aroma wafting like mist from small holes. This is what training with our safety button dummy looks like. The gadget was created for all scent work enthusiasts – from home hobbyists, through sports trainers, to uniformed services looking for compact yet effective scent hiding spots that mimic their natural working environment.

Placing hiding spots at various heights – from paw level to the top edges of doors – opens a whole new dimension of work for the dog: it must lift its nose off the ground, precisely “suspend it” in the air, and read the vertical layers of the scent cone. Such training develops neck and back muscles, teaches the dog to maneuver its body consciously, and eliminates the routine of searching only “on the ground.” Thanks to the neodymium magnet in the base of our “mushroom,” you can attach it to a post, door frame, or beam under the ceiling in seconds, simulating different working conditions. Rotating the heights of the hiding spots builds not only the dog's physical endurance but also its ability to think in three dimensions about scent, which practically shortens the time needed to locate the source and increases the confidence of marking.

Example training scenario

Trainers recommend starting each session with a short “warm-up” – a simple search for containers – before moving on to more difficult, elevated hides. Only after the warm-up do you place the dummy 1 m above the ground on a metal pillar. Such high hides require the dog to lift its head and precisely suspend its nose, which naturally develops the skill of working in the upper layers of the air.

• ⏱️ Step 3: The dog works off-leash; let it independently catch the scent cone.

Care and safety

• 🧼 Place under a stream of warm water + dish soap, rinse, dry – done.
• 🚫 Avoid dishwashers and products with chlorine chemicals – they can weaken the structure of the material.
• 🔒 If you train in public spaces, always remove the button after the session (the magnet is strong, and someone might mistake it for a “real” emergency STOP).
