Engineering in the service of the dog's nose
The biggest challenge in water training is reconciling two contradictions: the scent must come out, but water should not get in. Fluonose Aqua brilliantly solves this problem. The spacing of the scent channels (20 cm) in the side "wings" allows for scent emission while creating a barrier for water (it works a bit like a siphon). Moreover, the container is so balanced that it has high buoyancy.
You can place the scent sample directly in the container or – for greater convenience and cleanliness – put a smaller container inside, such as Fluonose Nano+ (it fits perfectly!). This is a great solution if you want to quickly change scents without washing the entire Fluonose Aqua container.
5 ways to use Fluonose Aqua
- 🦆 On the surface: Place it on the water. The container will drift, releasing scent just below the water's surface.
- 🪨 On the bottom: Weigh down the container (e.g., with a stone) and place it on the bottom of a shallow body of water. Make sure it lies horizontally!
- 🎣 In suspension: Screw the included "eye" into the bottom of the container, tie a string with a weight, and adjust the length. The container will "levitate" underwater at the chosen depth.
- 🌨️ In snow: Bury it in a drift. The outlets facing down prevent snow from blocking the scent flow.
- 🌲 In the underbrush: Hide it underground or under leaves in the forest. It works just as effectively as in snow!

Sample training: "Underwater Treasures" 🏴☠️
This scenario is perfect for dogs that love water but are just learning that scent can come from the depths.
- Preparation: Place the scent sample (e.g., cinnamon) inside the Fluonose Aqua. Tighten the lid securely.
- Setup: Screw the yellow eye into the bottom of the container. Tie a fishing line or thin string about 30-50 cm long to it. At the other end of the string, tie a weight (this can be a special fishing weight or simply a stone in a net).
- Hiding the sample: Enter the water (up to knee depth) and lower the weight to the bottom. The container, thanks to its buoyancy, will rise and "hang" underwater without surfacing.
- Start: Introduce the dog to the water. Give the command to search. The dog should swim or wade, scenting just above the water's surface.
- Indication: When the dog locates the scent cone emerging from the water, it should signal this clearly (e.g., barking, trying to "paw" the water, or intensely staring at the spot).
- Reward: Immediately after the indication, throw the dog's favorite floating toy to the hiding spot of the container or reward it with a treat from your hand.
Have fun! Remember, water training is very tiring for the dog – take frequent breaks.
