In nosework, the hardest part is getting the dog to stop searching for the "box" and start searching for a specific scent molecule. And this is where our Scent Tape Dummy comes in – all yellow and black, looking exactly like those measuring tapes that are lying around every workshop or garage.
This is not just another empty can. It's an optical camouflage element that makes training incredibly realistic. You place it on the countertop next to real tools, hang it on a shelf, or throw it in the corner of the garage – for the dog, it's just another everyday item that "might" have a scent. This way, you teach your four-legged friend to focus on the source of the aroma itself, not on the shape of the object.

What sets Scent Tape apart from other "decoys" is the functional slider. Just like in a real measuring tape, it serves to lock the tape, here it is used to... manage the scent! By sliding it, you can uncover or cover the ventilation hole. Want your dog to have an easier time at the beginning of the session? Slide the slider back and let the scent flow freely. Want to practice "scent silence" or very subtle trails? Close the hole almost completely.

Preparation: In the garage or workshop, choose an area of about 3x3 meters, where there are plenty of tools (boxes, shelves, countertops). Place the scent sample in a Nano+ can and screw it into the Scent Tape. Remember to keep the tape "hot" and the rest of the tools (hammers, screwdrivers) "cold".
This training builds incredible confidence in the dog and teaches it that scent can be everywhere – even in the least obvious object!
