We’re putting the ‘Tropiciel Pizza’ up for auction, which didn’t turn out quite as nicely as we’d have liked. As you can see in the photos, there are small excess bits of material at the ends of each slice of pizza. Apart from this minor flaw, the pizza is 100% functional and complete, and the set also includes 6× Fluonose Nano+ cans.

Pizza Tropiciela is a modular scent board for Scentwork and Nosework, which looks like a colourful pizza, but rather than filling a dog’s tummy, it keeps their nose thoroughly occupied. The whole board is 25 cm in diameter and about 1 cm thick. The pizza consists of 6 removable slices, and each slice has a special slot for a Fluonose Nano+ can. The set also includes 6 olive-coloured Fluonose Nano+ cans with adjustable scent intensity, as well as a plastic tray with a rim, on which you can store the whole pizza or use it as a compact training board.
At first glance, the Tropiciela Pizza simply looks like a fun, colourful pizza for dog owners. There are slices, there’s the ‘base’, and there are toppings resembling mushrooms, ham and other classic ingredients. Except that here, every detail serves a training purpose. When inserted into the slots, the olive-coloured Nano+ cans look like just another topping on the pizza, so they aren’t overly conspicuous and blend naturally into the whole composition.
It’s precisely this effect of the can ‘disappearing’ amongst the toppings that does the trick. The dog isn’t presented with a boring board with a single obvious target, but an interesting surface where it actually has to work its nose. For the owner, it’s a great way to add variety to daily training sessions, whilst for a nosework trainer or school, it’s a brilliant gadget that immediately shows clients that classes are conducted using professional, specialised equipment.
The Tropiciela Pizza is also very easy to use. There’s no need to screw anything together, force anything in or fiddle about with securing the scent. Simply prepare a Fluonose Nano+ can, insert your chosen scent sample, set the intensity and drop the can into the slot from the top. A magnet inside the can will grip the metal insert embedded in the base of the socket, and the can will stay in place.
The whole pizza is divided into 6 separate slices. You can use it as a single, compact board on a tray, or remove the slices and spread them out in different places on the floor, a mat, grass or a training area. This gives you plenty of freedom when designing exercises, ranging from very simple ones to more challenging ones where the dog has to search a larger area.
Each slice of pizza has exactly one slot for a Fluonose Nano+ canister, but the slots are not arranged identically. In the full set, the slices alternate between two variations: in some, the slot is closer to the centre of the pizza, whilst in others it is closer to the edge. This ensures the dog does not learn a single, mechanical pattern such as ‘the can is always in the same place’. They must check the slice with their nose and locate the source of the scent themselves.
The set includes 6 standard olive-coloured Fluonose Nano+ cans. Each can has adjustable scent intensity and a built-in strong neodymium magnet. When inserted into the slot, the can looks like one of the pizza toppings, whilst at the same time staying securely in place and not shifting when the board is moved around as normal.
Fluonose Nano+ cans are clean and sold unscented. You can place any scent sample inside them, such as a natural carrier or a cotton bud soaked in the scent oil used in your training. The scent intensity control allows you to adjust the level of difficulty to suit your dog, the stage of training and the conditions in which you are practising. For a beginner dog, you can start with a stronger scent and then gradually reduce it.
This is particularly handy when working with dogs at different levels. In group sessions, one dog can practise simply marking a single active scent point, whilst another searches for several scent points spread over a larger area. The same set therefore offers plenty of possibilities without the need for additional accessories.
A metal component is embedded in the base of each socket, whilst the Nano+ cans have built-in magnets. This means the can simply snaps into place and stays securely in position. At the same time, it protrudes a few millimetres above the surface of the pizza, so once you’ve finished your workout, you can simply pick it up with your fingers and remove it from the socket.
It’s a small detail that’s very convenient in practice. You don’t have to pry the can out, shake the whole piece or use any extra tools. You insert the can from the top, carry out the training, pull it out with your fingers, clean the set and you’re done. During intensive sessions, especially at nosework school, this ease of use really makes a difference.
We’ve included a plastic tray with a rim in the set, which works a bit like a pizza tray. You can arrange all the pieces on it and use the Tracker’s Pizza as a single, compact scent board. The rim prevents the pieces from sliding off to the sides, and once the training session is over, the whole set can be conveniently stored on a shelf.
However, the tray isn’t essential during exercises. If you want to increase the search area, simply remove the pieces from the tray and lay them out separately. You can place three pieces in one room, three in another, line them up, scatter them on a mat, or use them as part of a larger training station. It is precisely this flexibility that makes the Pizza Tropiciela not just a pretty board, but a truly practical tool for scent work.
Pizza Tropiciela is ideal for anyone who wants to train with their dog at home and is looking for something more interesting than yet another scented box. You can do a quick training session between walks, a relaxed session after work, or a few simple repetitions with a young dog that’s just discovering the world of scents. The colourful design also helps to engage the owner, as the training looks simply fun and makes you want to lay it out on the floor.
This set is also well-suited to Nosework schools, trainers and clubs. During classes, the Pizza Tropiciela can be used as a standalone station, part of a training course, or an interesting example of hiding a scent amongst a range of visual ‘extras’. Clients can immediately see that they aren’t working with random items found in the garage, but with accessories designed specifically for scent training.
The board can also be taken outdoors. It works well on a terrace, on grass, at a training ground or during outdoor training sessions. After training, simply wash it in warm water with a little washing-up liquid, rinse it and leave it to dry. This is particularly important when you’re working with different dogs, different scents or using the equipment in conditions that aren’t always as clean as a laboratory.

The simplest option is to train on the tray. Place a scent sample in one can, position it in the chosen section, and leave the remaining cans empty or use them as neutral elements. Your dog works within a small, clearly defined area, whilst you can calmly observe whether they’re actually tracking the scent source or simply ‘hopping’ from one element to the next.
Once the dog understands the task, you can remove the pieces from the tray and lay them out separately. Start with short distances, then gradually increase the space. When training with multiple scent sources, it’s a good idea to space them out sensibly so that the dog isn’t immediately presented with several overlapping scent cones. You can therefore place the pieces in different parts of the room or work in sections: first one part of the room, then the other.
For a more advanced dog, you can use a few active cans and a few empty ones. Just remember not to rush things too much. If your dog is just learning the game, it’s better to start with one active can and a clear task. Only later should you add more hiding places, change the layout of the pieces, move the training outdoors and adjust the scent intensity in the Nano+ cans.
